About Me

Gabija Steponenaite is a Lithuanian-born artist whose passion for watercolour painting blossomed upon moving to Chicago. With a Master’s degree in Communication and Western European Literature from Vilnius University, her artistic vision merges intellectual depth with a powerful emotional connection to colour.

Gabija’s art is an ongoing dialogue between the artwork, the viewer, and herself. Each painting reflects a fleeting moment or memory, whether inspired by landscapes, cityscapes, or the beauty of the everyday. Her unique process combines loose brush strokes and ink-pen lines to create a sense of mystery and layered reality. With every piece, she invites the viewer into a world where interpretation and personal connection are key.

Gabija’s reluctance to title her work stems from her belief that art is alive only when viewed, and its meaning evolves with each viewer’s experience. Her art challenges viewers to expand their creativity and imagination.
